Who We Are

Manor Pilot Program Count Down

Who are we and why are we doing this?

Now more than ever, we in this powerful and far-reaching industry need to discover and nurture the best of our future filmmakers. Film is a vital artistic medium in American culture, but too often it is a medium that is only accessible to urban, relatively privileged artists. We can teach people who are beyond the reaches of conventional film schools by bringing technical training, professional equipment and creative mentoring to the students' own communities. Budding filmmakers will be able to bring their fresh voices to the telling of universal stories with the support of their home communities and film industry mentors.

The Mobile Film School is a script-to-screen mobile studio designed to teach filmmaking and mentor students in, rural and other underserved areas. One tour bus will be equipped with camera, lighting, sound, editing, and projection equipment. The other will contain a resource and video library and staff offices. Both will travel across North America, giving students hands-on experience in the art of filmmaking and providing access to professionals and professional equipment. The Mobile Film School will introduce dedicated students to industry professionals and providing them with the tools they will need to begin working in the film industry. There will be three simultaneous workshops: documentary filmmaking, narrative filmmaking, and acting. The acting workshop will collaborate with the narrative workshop. The students will work with seasoned professionals in an intimate, mentoring environment with the support of their own communities.

After the workshops are completed we will encourage the students to contribute to our ever-growing network of alumni and mentors. Through our website, future workshops and projects born out of collaboration with us Mobile Film School students will join us in continuing to foster a sense of community.
